She once again appeared in the UK in the West End production of The King and I, which also toured the United States for ten months. As a result of the successful remounting of the musical Sunset Boulevard at the Ogunquit Theatre, a US revival is being planned. She appeared once again in the UK in 2012 co-starring opposite Richard Johnson of Royal Shakespeare Company fame, in the play, On Golden Pond. She has recorded a CD with the legendary jazz artist Page Cavanaugh called On the Same Page, available online at Jambomusic.com. Also in 2012 she performed her one woman show, Hart of my Heart, a tribute to the life and the lyrics of Lorenz Hart at the newly opened Matcham Room at the Hippodrome.

As much a part of her life as her career, is her devotion to animal preservation and protection, which at times becomes more of a vocation than an avocation. She is founder and president of the William Holden Wildlife Foundation, established in 1982 to continue and to further her long-time partner’s conservation work in East Africa after his death.   

She was appointed conservation consultant to Jaguar and Land Rover after creating the Jaguar Conservation Trust which she has operated in Central America. She has been on the advisory board of four zoos in the United States and is a fellow of the Los Angeles Zoo, the Explorers' Club, and the Royal Geographic Society. She is active in the movement to preserve and protect the remaining herds of the North American wild horses and has received numerous international awards for her grass roots work in conservation which she considers a life-long commitment. She resides part of the year in Kenya.

I’ve never had a straightforward path. I was born prematurely in 1959.

Medical staff back then suggested my mum terminate the pregnancy because she had been very ill with the previous conceptions and in their opinion, only one of us would survive the birth. This wasn’t the case however, as we both survived.

When I think of it now, that early fight set the tone for much of my life, defying the odds, getting back up, and pushing through challenges I thought I couldn’t handle.

Growing up in East London, life was pretty typical for the time – my mum stayed home, my dad worked long hours. I didn’t see much of him, and when I did, it wasn’t easy. Our relationship became strained and, at times, violent. I was terrified of him, to be honest.

School didn’t make things better. I struggled with reading, couldn’t spell to save my life, and constantly got labelled “thick.” Teachers said it, my dad repeated it, and eventually, I believed it. I was shoved into the bottom sets, called a troublemaker, and often bunked off school. No one seemed to care much, so I found other ways to feel useful- cleaning cars, ferreting for rabbits, and selling them to pubs! I discovered I could work, I could make money, and that gave me something school never did – confidence. I then got a job on Romford Market at first putting up the stalls and eventually working on various different stalls, life was good.

When I left school I had no qualifications, but I did manage to get myself an apprenticeship as an electrical engineer and found I could learn in this environment. It was a practical work based apprenticeship with only one day of college a week, I qualified.

When I was about 13 to 14 years of age I started to play Snooker and much of my free time was spent in the snooker club in Romford I loved the game and found I was good at it, rising in the ranks and played matches for money often being backed by adults I did play a best of 9 match for £1000 a lot of money back then, and won.

By my 30s, I looked like a success story. I had built multiple businesses, made great money, but under the surface, I was exhausted, constantly stressed, and ignoring all the warning signs. I kept pushing, telling myself I’d rest later.

Then, in 2002, I got hit with the reality – Multiple Sclerosis. It took years to diagnose. My marriage fell apart, I sold the businesses, and ended up in a wheelchair, told there was nothing more they could do.

In 2007, I hit rock bottom. I tried to take my own life. I didn’t see a way forward.

That was the lowest point in my life, but what I didn’t realize at the time was that it would become a turning point for me.

In the months that followed, something shifted. The way I thought, the way I saw life, everything began to change. My actions, and the consequences of them, had a profound impact on me, and set me on a completely different path.

Since childhood, I battled severe eczema, a relentless struggle that began when I was just five years old. By eight, it had spread to my eyes and lips, leaving me feeling isolated and insecure.

While many children grow out of eczema, mine only worsened. I endured monthly steroid shots, sleepless nights with ice packs, and even medication to stop the scratching.

In 2008, my skin struggles reached a breaking point. I woke with excruciating elbow pain that turned out to be a severe MRSA infection. I spent five days in the hospital, three months unable to use my left arm, and later two months unable to walk because the infection had spread to my leg.

These experiences forced me to confront my health head-on. Determined to find solutions, I began experimenting in my own kitchen — searching for answers I couldn’t find anywhere else.

At 40, I left my career in tech at Microsoft and Google’s DoubleClick to pursue a license in esthetics. During my training, I invested in advanced technologies, experimented with active ingredients, and developed a unique philosophy: layering treatments, tools, and serums to transform skin health over time.

Cam Clarke began his career in short pants and knee socks in 1965 as a member of T.V.’s “The King Family Show”. His mother is Alyce King of The King Sisters. His father is actor Robert Clarke, who starred in many of the science fiction films of the 1950s and ’60s.

Since the early eighties, Cam has been working in voice-overs, particularly in animation, Voicing such characters as Leonardo in the original “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”. During my medical training, I encountered remarkable healing cases that defied scientific explanation.

This inspired me to explore alternative and complementary medicine, leading me to study with esteemed spiritual masters across the Himalayas, America, and Europe.

I grew up poor in a rich neighborhood. (Yes, cliché, but totally true.)

A Royal Air Force officer who experienced suicidal thoughts in the past said “life is worth living” as she prepares to run the TCS London Marathon for Samaritans.

Squadron Leader Tamsin Wakeham volunteers for the charity which provides round the clock support for people who are having a difficult time.

“I have been in that position. You think there is no hope but I have done some great things since. Life is worth living,” she told the PA news agency.

Tamsin even went on to train the Duke of Sussex when he underwent tough Survive, Evade, Resist, Extract Training in 2012, the year he went to serve in Afghanistan for a second time.

In the 90s, I owned one of the leading dance organisations in the world - Dreamscape. I have been in a boy band. I wish I'd been in a successful boy band! Instead, I have swept floors in a factory to keep my dream alive. I have managed acts on XFactor, written contestant songs, and enjoyed flying Concorde. I have written hit records, and Charles and Liz invited me to drink champagne at Buckingham Palace.

I've enjoyed rock bottom three times 😂 I ran ten marathons, including London, eight times. Running my 11th and 9th London Marathon in October 2022 with my son, now that's a blessing. I ran 100+ half marathons I've cycled from John O'Groats to Land's End - 1,000miles.

Then contracted as a model with Eileen Ford, who brought me from Paris to New York, exuberant and riding high on the energy, I broke both arms pedaling a bike down Fifth Avenue to a Mademoiselle shoot. Always intent on “Showing Up,” I went to the Ralph Lauren show the very next day, as I was cast to walk the runway and sadly had to observe instead, double-casted. I grew up poor in a rich neighborhood. (Yes, cliché, but totally true.)

A Royal Air Force officer who experienced suicidal thoughts in the past said “life is worth living” as she prepares to run the TCS London Marathon for Samaritans.

Squadron Leader Tamsin Wakeham volunteers for the charity which provides round the clock support for people who are having a difficult time.

“I have been in that position. You think there is no hope but I have done some great things since. Life is worth living,” she told the PA news agency.

Tamsin even went on to train the Duke of Sussex when he underwent tough Survive, Evade, Resist, Extract Training in 2012, the year he went to serve in Afghanistan for a second time.

Originally from France, I’ve spent half of my life in the UK. I’m married to a Scot (I love Scotland!) and we have a wonderful 19 year-old daughter, Felicity.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been on a quest - wondering what I’m truly meant to do. As a teenager, I dreamed of becoming an English teacher. But when I was advised against it, I was left thinking, what now?

I ended up studying business, nearly went into finance, and eventually landed in marketing and branding, working in senior roles across various companies. While I enjoyed many aspects of my career, I always felt there was something more - a deeper way to make a difference.

A Turning Point

Becoming a mother was life-changing. Raising a child with learning difficulties taught me patience, resilience, and the importance of seeing people for who they truly are - focusing on their strengths, not their struggles.

Then came a major turning point: burnout. After years in the corporate world, I knew I needed a change. So, in 2019, I launched Holisto®, initially helping small businesses build authentic brands. It was fulfilling work, allowing me to connect with people, hear their unique stories, and uncover what made them THEM. 

Yet, something was still missing.

I grew up non-white in Apartheid South Africa. I was raised Muslim and I attended a Catholic school run by a group of Dominican Sisters. It was the only private school in our town and definitely the only multiracial school. It was here that I learned what respect, ONE-ness and Love truly meant – the nuns embodied this.

When I was in Grade 1, our teacher, Sr. Maureen, would start the day with a prayer, asking which student wanted to share a prayer. One morning, an eager classmate raised her hand. Like me, she was Indian South African. She was Hindu. When she asked if she could pray in her own religion, Sr. Maureen taught us true inclusivity as she replied, “Yes, of course. Let’s all bow our heads and close our eyes.”

Then came the time when uncomfortable and hurtful words were spoken by a student: “Non-Christians go to hell.” Two of my Christian classmates, burning with feelings of the injustice that was being inflicted on their non-Christian school mates, reported the student to the nun who was the junior school principal. She didn’t sweep it under the rug. She continued to create a space of Love and righted the wrong.

We sang many hymns and songs – the one that spoke volumes was called, When I needed a neighbour. 

The lyrics of the last verse read:

“When you need a neighbor, I’ll be there, I’ll be there, when you need a neighbor I’ll be there.

And the creed and the color and the name won’t matter, when you need a neighbor I’ll be there.”

A little while back things got very dark when a virus ran through my kidney, causing complications, and even a heart embolism scare. And on top of that, the severe back and leg pain I had been managing already for many years, got much worse. I was so sick that every doctor I met said they couldn’t believe I didn’t die.

Some people who knew me said, “How could this happen to a health practitioner? You’re so healthy!” Well, it happens, and for all sorts of reasons. 

Coming home from the hospital and letting people help me was really challenging for me. I was ashamed, embarrassed, and beyond lost. Part of me thought I had somehow failed.

I knew I couldn’t spend much time stuck in self-blame or my sickness would drag on. And I knew that I couldn’t just go back to my previous state—I had to use this experience to learn a whole other realm of “self-care”. Because I didn't just need the immediate medical care; I had to seek out a full-on recovery path! And I couldn’t do a big thing like that alone. We never can do these things alone.

I realized that even though I put (what I thought was) healthy food in my body, looked fit, and exercised, there was an underlying issue... I had a habit for choosing unhealthy relationships with people who didn’t treat me well, and downplaying my own worth and value along with self-destructive thought patterns.

I decided that I couldn’t settle for anything less than self-love and care (just like I wouldn’t want my friends or clients to settle for either!). I was waking up to a whole other level of awareness about myself, the messages of my body, mind and spirit.

Bob Danna is a fellow at the Global Curiosity Institute headquartered in Belgium. With more that five decades of leadership experience as a physicist, officer in the U.S. Navy, consulting engineer, and an expert in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Human Capital Management (HCM), his life illustrates the power of curiosity in driving a professional and personal life modeled as a “career lattice.” 

Bob holds bachelor and master degrees in physics and a master degree in engineering. Born in 1951, he experienced, first hand, the revolutionary cultural, social, and technological changes of the 1950s and 1960s, as well as 50 years of professional life starting in the early 1970s to the present.  

He served more than 12 years in the U.S. Navy earning the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Also, he invested approximately two decades during the 1980s and 1990s working as a registered professional engineer and as an expert in information technology. Bob has held senior executive roles in a number of consulting firms and sat on the Board of Directors of both publicly traded and private companies.

In 2005, he joined Josh Bersin, an internationally-recognized expert in Human Capital Management, to help build Bersin & Associates into a global human capital research and analyst firm, finally serving as its EVP and COO prior to its acquisition by Deloitte Consulting at the end of 2012. Bob then served as a managing director in Deloitte’s Human Capital practice for five years before formally retiring from full time employment in 2017. He now serves as a limited partner in a VC firm and a corporate advisor and personal mentor. 

In April 2024, Bob released his memoir, My Curious Life, If my Grandkids Ask About Me, Tell Them This. Kirkus Reviews describes it as “An engaging, curiosity-driven journey from the 1960s to the present.” That could be a description of Bob’s life as well as the book.

As Home-Start charities working with volunteers, staff and families in communities across the UK, this report highlights the humanity, humility and care that we have witnessed over the past 15 months. We surveyed families from across our network of local Home- Starts across four UK nations to explore what has made the biggest difference. Crucially, we consider how we might build on this extraordinary effort in order for society to “build back” – not just better, but fairer and kinder too.

 In a year when so many have yearned to get outside, it may seem odd to provide this reminder of the importance of the home environment for children. But home truly is where it starts from. Supporting parents to not just cope, but feel confident to thrive, in their role as caregivers on a day-to-day basis is what Home-Start has been doing for fifty years.

After qualifying as a social worker in 2017, Beth wanted to address the lack of creative and community focused support available for young people. This led her to found Care to Dance - a social enterprise that uses dance and trauma-informed approaches to support care-experienced young people, to help them feel a sense of belonging and to process what they’ve been through in a safe space, without fear of judgement. 

We find creative ways to help them process their experiences, the painful and positive, provide the stability consistency they likely missed growing up and help them develop relationships built on trust so they have people to turn to. By doing this, we hope to achieve our mission to improve the wellbeing of care-experienced young people through dance, and to build inclusive communities where they feel safe, supported and can express themselves freely.

This year, Beth was in a car accident that left her with a broken back. She is lucky to have had an amazing support network, and strong mental resilience that she has cultivated over a long period of time. But it really brought home for her what it must be like to face challenges and dark times alone. Which is often the case for a lot of care-experienced young people.

So to mark Care to Dance’s 5 year anniversary and to raise money for the young people that they support, she will have run first ultramarathon! So many young people are struggling at the moment and services are still so stretched. By undertaking this challenge, Beth wanted to show all young people just how much is possible if you put your mind to it, what you can overcome with mental strength and determination, and people backing you. 

Beth is also undertaking a PhD to explore the effects and benefits combining the Arts and trauma-informed approaches can have for care-experienced young people.

Kristen Willeumier, PhD, is a neuroscientist with research expertise in neurobiology and neuroimaging. Dr. Willeumier holds a B.A. degree in Psychology from Boston College, an M.S. degree in Physiological Science from UCLA in the College of Letters and Sciences and an M.S. and Ph.D. degree in Neurobiology from UCLA in the David Geffen School of Medicine. She was a postdoctoral scientist in the Department of Neurology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she continued her research in the genetic analysis of neurological disorders. She was the recipient of a National Research Service Award Fellowship from the National Institutes of Health and has presented her work internationally. Having served as the Director of Neuroimaging Research for the Amen Clinics, she led the efforts in utilizing imaging technologies to understand the neurobiological signatures underlying psychiatric disorders. In this capacity, she oversaw many pioneering studies, including a clinical research trial investigating the long-term effects of repetitive subconcussive and concussive impacts in National Football League players. Subsequent work focused on therapeutic approaches to rehabilitate brain function in athletes with mild traumatic brain injury and the application of machine learning algorithms to neuroimaging data to improve the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders.

Dr. Willeumier is currently the Founder & CEO of the Willeumier Center for Advanced Research in Neurotrauma & Brain Rehabilitation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to studying the long-term effects of psychological and physical trauma on cognitive health and the use of innovative, cutting-edge technologies along with dietary and lifestyle modifications to restore, rehabilitate, and optimize brain function. After achieving my Master’s in NGO/Nonprofit management at Johns Hopkins University, the organization developed as part of my capstone project and corresponding 46 page research paper which focused on the healing benefits of equine-human connections, equine welfare, mindfulness, and emphasizing that horses may have multiple roles in their lives. They may be a show horse that is docile and steps down from the show-ring by offering equine therapy to students in a therapeutic riding program etc.

In terms of my role in higher education, I currently work as a Graduate Advisor at Unity Environmental University- Distance Education supporting graduate students from the start of their program to degree conferral, inspiring academic success and assisting students with their academic planning. I work with students of all ages and from a variety of disciplines. We are an environmental university and our focus is bringing more sustainable, environmentally savvy professionals in the workplace. 

I believe everyone can follow their passions and enjoy what they do. It took me time to find my own path which landed me in higher education and the nonprofit sector. I am grateful for the experiences I had as it shaped me to be the leader I am today. 

Andrew has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Southern Connecticut State University. He then went to Springfield College where he received a Master of Education in Psychology with a concentration in Athletic Counseling. He also received a Certificate of Graduate Studies while at Springfield in Mental Health and Substance Abuse Counseling. He then attended Post University where he received his MBA with a concentration in Healthcare Leadership Systems. 

Currently Andrew is the owner of Deep Breaths Counseling and Sport Psychology where he and his team work with both mental health clients and sport psychology athletes. He is an Adjunct professor of Sport Psychology in Southern Connecticut State Universities Sport Psychology Graduate program. He is also currently listed in the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committees (USOPC) Mental Health Registry. 

He is the co-host of the Mental Mindset Podcast and lastly, he currently works with athletes all over the United States in various sports from high school to professional levels. Starting where the athlete is and building a game plan from there is the key to the success athletes and clients have with Andrew.

Reen's journey into understanding happiness began after experiencing deep depression in her early thirties. When she discovered she was pregnant during this challenging time she knew something had to change. It motivated her to find a way out of her dire situation for the sake of her unborn child.

She realized that because she’d been naturally happy through her childhood and early adult years, she lacked the skills to manage her wellbeing. This led to an interest in positive psychology.
