Guest: Dr. Toniya Farmer

Last winter, 39-year-old Toniya Farmer, DPT, was in a race for her life — literally, speeding on her way in the car toward the nearest hospital while experiencing the kind of doomsday chest pain that surely signaled a heart attack.

On the phone with her was a 911 operator, who advised her at one point to pull over to the side of the road. But, as she recalled later, “I knew if I stopped driving, I would die. Jesus literally took the wheel.”

Charlie Nagle is a retired Superintendent of the Columbia County School District. Since retirement , he spends his time traveling and enjoying his wife and family. He stopped by the studio to discuss his contribution to Heart Matters.

Roscoe Perry earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Business Administration from Savannah State University; graduating in 1985. Pastor Perry holds a Master of Divinity degree from ITC (Interdenominational Theological Center) at Morehouse School of Religion.

He formerly served as Vice President of State Congress of Christian Education and serves as President of Mount Up Ministries, Inc. in Appling, GA. He is an instructor at American Baptist College in Augusta, GA; satellite site for American Baptist Theological of Nashville, TN. Faithfully serving as Pastor of First Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Appling, Georgia. Roscoe Perry also serves as spiritual care coordinator for hospice .

Dr. Kamath is an Emeritus Professor of Cardiac Surgery at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta GA. He was chief of cardiac surgery at University Hospital until 2010 before moving to MCG as chief in 2011 and retiring in 2018.
