Black History Month, my initiative and White America

This month is not for us its for y’all. We grew up being told learn history so it does not repeat itself. White people do not grow up having to learn history because their reality benefits from not exploring beyond their privilege. We acknowledge BHM but we acknowledge Black history year around as well. My initiative is to continue to push black curriculum into the schools because our kids need that in order to help push for and shape a better future. That’s both inside and outside the city because more times than none the people outside of the city come into the city looking for work in multiple facets of society.

Representation is felling our youth

Our kids are lost because they have no positive examples to look up to. All we have in reality TV now where it portrays us in a specific light. Take me back to the 80s, 90s and early 2000s when we had martin, sister sister, one on one, family matters, living color, a different world, Jamie, and so forth. Lets talk…

This generation’s weird fixation on death

The kids today are literally fixated on the idea of death fixing problems. They consider a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Why is this so popular today and how do we fix it?

Relationship boundaries

Recently on FB, King Dev came across a post that brought some thoughts in his head. The first being, who really sets relationship boundaries? In this post, the boyfriend’s bestfriend would blatantly disrespect the girlfriend by coming and going as she pleased. Coming into the house without knocking and getting in bed with him as if she was his girlfriend. This means cuddling and the whole nine in the presence of the girlfriend. Who’s job is it to truly set the much needed boundaries and why? On the other hand, should they just let it rock and have a little fun? Are we too closed off to monogamous relationships in the new day and age to even consider polygamy?

Relationship pranks

This is an interesting topic because we see them all the time on social media. The infamous act like you cheating on your girlfriend/boyfriend as they come in the door. The interesting part is when they do this with another person as opposed to a prop that looks like another person. Why is this ok or even funny? Better yet, why is your human prop that comfortable with you to be half naked and act as if they are really having sex with you? Is it ok if your partner pulled this prank on you when you come home?

Black Friday Debunked In recent years, a myth has surfaced that gives a particularly ugly twist to Black Friday, claiming that back in the 1800s Southern plantation owners could buy slaves at a discount on the day after Thanksgiving. Political ignorance

Let us be real this is a topic that nobody in the black community either educated or not wants to talk about. However, this topic is so important because we keep making the same mistakes allowing the cycle to repeat itself. We all focus on voting rights and how “important” it is to vote but what about the other aspects of politics. Representation is one of them that are HUGE but never talked about or encouraged. No I’m not saying lets throw away all the politicians and implant all black ones, I’m saying throw away all the people who don’t stand for us and replace them with people who do. For too long black people in America have considered the Democratic Party as one who is for the people and do not have any racist within in. This is wrong we as a community just have the habit of ignoring racist remarks, comments, or actions that people within the Democratic Party does. Its almost one of those situations where when white people are around black people long enough they get a pass to say some off the wall stuff in exchange of some laughs. Let us change this. Hillary Clinton’s comment is a perfect example Yella Beezy

Yella Beezy was on the unfavorable end of gunfire after jumping from strip club to strip club on a Texas highway as he drove home. As he drove home, a car pulled up beside him and opened fire. He jumped into the passenger side to try to elude the gunfire but suffered three gunshot wounds. At some point, he was able to jump out the car and fled on foot. As he fled, he proceeded to call his girlfriend (who didn’t answer, then his mom, then 911). The InsightTrio discuss whether the order of people he called was backward or not. What do you think? Fake black community leaders

These fake black community leaders got to be mo’ careful. They are participating in white-collar crimes, getting caught, and being counter-productive to the community. FBI investigations showcase how much of a fraud they are yet they hold the same government positions. We have to vet our “Black Community Leaders” so that they don’t fall into the grasp of white-collar practices. Our youth comes first but not when our black community leaders focused on paddin they pockets instead of leading our youth.

Cliqued Up

Being cliqued up has its perks but it shouldn’t the way in which we conduct business. King Dev has a story as it pertains to cliques in Rochester. Cliques are ok until they affect the way we should conduct business.

The woes of the black community On the micro- and macro-level within the black community we have problems that keeps us in an oppressed state. These problems keeps us in the helpless mentality so we are always in need, need, need. We struggle with supporting the advancement of our people and tend to support kicking them when they are down. We have a responsibility to our people to hold them accountable and use the ones who fall through the cracks as an example. We tend to over fixate on the trials and tribulations our people instead of learning and growing from them.

Black media vs white media We have to hold our black media outlets accountable for the messages and content they agree to distribute. I get it hot takes are a part of media and they are ultimately used to bring in ratings but content development is everything. White media has mastered the art of getting in and getting out when reporting on their people being connected to controversy, drama, and/or crime. Black media on the other hand can’t wait to get a hold of another black person and rip them apart. For days at a time they will talk about it and talk about it without talking about solutions or ways to prevent it. As black media and black people in general the best way to progressively grow is building a village. We learn from one another mistake and instead of magnifying the problem we magnify the solution. Healing is the goal not the other way around.

Through various conversations I’ve had this week I’ve referenced Black Wall Street a few times and my colleagues have been literally hit with confusion. White washing aka story telling have created a skewed perception of life that people have internalized to be truth. Ignorance is purposeful not bliss, the government doesn’t want to implicate themselves in anything criminal because that would tarnish their image. Historic events like the bombing of Black Wall Street, sundown towns, and many other events have been white washed to cater to the great United States of America’s image. The hobby business owner One of KingDev’s biggest pet peeves are business owners that treat their businesses as hobbies. Hobbies are things that we do to pass time. Businesses are things we create with the intentions of fixing a problem and profiting off of it in some way. The problem is when they fuse the two creating a business hobbyist. The goal is to be the owner or founder of a successful business, not a person who has a business. I founded two businesses and I treat them as such. I have clientele and expect them to act as such. In the black community we have to get away from feeling like if they look like me then I don’t have to pay them. In the same breath if they don’t look like me I’m going to pay them anything for their product or service. We have to come to a place where we treat black business owners just like any other business owner and respect their prices and services.

I understand that people want to become famous and get this money. But the way you go about becoming famous is very important. The first thing people try to do is imitate someone they look up to who is famous. Instead of taking, learning and internalizing they take and use which makes them look like a fool. Listen as we give you a real life, real time example of this. No shade just reality.

Influencing Bravura in a broken system: -How to influence more Bravura in the city schools? In the city schools we often look for our youth to consistently perform at staggering high levels. The districts and state want teachers to teach efficiently yet they don’t provide them with the proper tools and resources. But this is this system doing what it was created to do. City schools were made to as an alternate location for black students who white suburban administrators rejected from their schools. To counter the affects of the system, city school district teachers everywhere have to overstand that building character will always come before academics. Our people long for strong relationships and if we feel a relationship is non-existent we disassociate ourselves completely. Character is something we as educators should make our primary focus not academics.

Entertainment meets education -What is Edutainment? Edutainment is when you entertain and educate at the same time. In our schools we often don’t utilize all the avenues to help improve the learning experience. While educating if we deliver out content in an entertaining light our youth will tend to memorize more of the content. Infusing hip-hop culture with the way we deliver our content can help our kids will ultimately provide a dope learning experience and environment.

Community involvement -How to get involved? Community is important when it comes to reinforcing practices learned in school. As a community we have to get involved and hold our teachers, youth workers, mentors, youth leaders, school administrators, as well as teachers accountable for the work they do. Once we do this we can ultimately control the trajectory of public education and success of our inner city youth and community development.

This week’s show is built on the back of ignorance. To be ignorant is to be unaware about a particular person, place, or thing. It is also used as a way to justify why a group of people acts a certain way or doesn’t understand a certain concept of life. Racism is a perfect example as to what is meant when you say ignorance is used to justify behavior and level of understanding. After recently watching 5 New York Times videos where the topic of conversation was race. It was interesting to watch because everybody had something authentic to say except white people. The white people were completely disengaged and completely ignorant to race talks. The first thing the first white person said as the video started was that the conversation is uncomfortable to have. As if we don’t already know the conversation is uncomfortable. The idea that people choose to be ignorant as opposed to naturally being ignorant is real. Cut the crap white people and face the facts. We as a progressive society cant afford for you to teach your kids that’s its ok to be ignorant if you are uncomfortable! #TalkThatTalk

Black Culture is the problem

Scott Rhodes on FB produced a video that blamed black culture for the problems within the black community. He went on to talk about our music being the anchor to our problems because rappers are making music about the very things that hold our people down. At the end of the day Scott was blurting out statistics that had nothing to do with the message he was trying to deliver. Of course KingDevDoe had some things to say about the stupidity he was talking. Statistics and selective rap lyrics don’t justify any agenda you are trying to push white boy. Understand that not ever stepping foot into the black community and even relatively trying to explain what’s going on amongst our people is not ok. To my people don’t allow people such as Scott to get under your skin. Laugh them off and hit them with unapologetic facts. Because it’s the facts and truth that will set you free!

Abortion

Noelle recently got involved with a person on Facebook that doesn’t believe in abortions by any means. Not even when rape is involved should an abortion take place. This ticked Noelle all the way off and she had to bring this conversation to the show and break it down. In the end just understand that men have say, just not FINAL say.

The Disenfranchisement of Women in American Ideology

Women as a collective are completely overlooked as it pertains to skill in American society. Especially black and brown women of color who have to go twice as hard as their white counter parts to even land jobs in American society. This disenfranchisement goes back generations and has been fought against for generations. Today we need to start and push the revolution toward advocating more for our women’s inclusion into male dominated roles. These are the real grounds for creativity and will ultimately maximize the content we create and put out. Media, podcasting, sports, television, anchors, modeling, public speaking… is all examples of jobs women are kept away from or told they cannot be apart of.

Connecting this problem with our youth

We often go throughout life doing and saying things we’ve learned throughout our upbringing. The problem of disenfranchisement of our women within American society as been present within our communities for some time now. With phrases like “you throw like a girl” or “you run like a girl” or “you’re a girl what do you know” or “girl don’t play basketball/football” or “volleyball is for girls, it’s a girl sport” etc. As we grow up and hear/use things... phrases like this it literally puts a girl in her place. Hearing those things enables thoughts of doubt and the belief that she cannot do what she wants to do.

Reversing and eliminating this problem

Be you. And teach the youth as a collective to be authentically them. Overstand that whatever you discover your calling to be is not subject to your gender or what people think. We all have a calling and it is up to us to identify that calling and fulfill it within our lifetime. If fulfilling it means you may lose some friends or even family then that’s a sacrifice you should be willing to make. As people we have to stand behind our young queens as they identify what their calling is and move toward fulfilling it. Don’t allow your own biases to dictate how you motivate the youth you service or just come in contact with. Empower them through creative approaches while reaffirming them that they are worthy of whatever their calling is no matter what society says. #Heed

Anthony Ray Hinton

• One of the longest serving prisoners on death row in Alabama serving a crime he did not commit • Thirty years ago, Mr. Hinton was arrested and charged with two capital murders based solely on the assertion that a revolver taken from his mother’s home was the gun used in both murders and in a third uncharged crime.

• After 12 more years of litigation, the U.S. Supreme Court reversed the lower courts, and a new trial was granted. The judge finally dismissed the charges after prosecutors said that scientists at the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences tested the evidence and confirmed that the crime bullets cannot be matched to the Hinton weapon.

• During an interview with Hinton, he states that while he was in jail for 30 years, with nothing but a bed and a toilet chained to the wall “they took my 30’s, my 40’s and my 50’s but what they didn’t take was my joy”

• Within three years of being released from jail he wrote a book entitled The Sun Does Shine: How I found Life and Freedom on Death Row Ear Hustle: Hosted by Earlonne Woods & Nigel Poor at San Quentin

Growing up in Rochester, New York Meshiko Brown naturally found his way into the music arena. As an artist he goes by Magic Gretzky. He is the last child of 17 kid’s total, 12 sisters and 5 brothers. As it pertains to music, his career began around the age of six years old. He says music has always been a hobby for him due to the fact that his brothers and sisters were so heavily involved. As a kid he watched how involved his siblings were into music that helped groom his craft. One thing that gave him inspiration to becoming a musician was the fact that he was always told that he sucked at making music. He is a musician that creates a certain type of music that touches base on mainly on how he feels about commodity that’s happening in his life, and taking place in the real world or just simply how he feels. He creates this type of music because he looks at his own voice as a weapon. There have been so many problems in this world that go unnoticed, or people are afraid to admit or talk about the issues. The reason he got into creating music is because he loves the fact that he can take a grasp into people’s emotions and it’s what excites him. He also feels that music is one of the keys to how you can save someone’s life. He has high hopes and wishes of becoming a music mogul. He wants to be a role model for people and looks forward to inspiring people while doing things for the community. He dropped his first debut mixtape "home for the holidays" mid-December 2015 and continued with a follow up “Three Sides Of The Story" mid-December 2016. Now that his fan base is growing and he is trying to let the world know who Magic Gretzky is, what he’s doing, and what city he’s from. He wants to leave a mark in the music industry along with the world forever. He has full intentions of continuing to push his music and will not stop until he is on the “all times list.”

Talking points: Women in America | Why aren’t powerful women more accepted in society?

When I speak on powerful women I don’t mean it from an angle of strength or even a independence, I mean it from a decision making standpoint. Men literally eat up all of the decision-making power and women sit in the shadows balancing their day-to-day schedule out. Why is this a thing that we’ve come to solidify in American culture... or even world culture? I understand men have always controlled who did what and set the standards on what qualifies a person to perform a specific job or duty. With that in mind and the world making leaps closer to a more open work force and leadership why do we still look down upon women being in powerful decision making positions? I personally believe more women should be in powerful positions because they have the ability to be subjective in cases where men who need to be subjective in decision-making position are not. But this same strength is the same reason why women are froze out of powerful positions. People believe their emotions will cloud their ultimate judgment. It goes into supporting our women as long as they are qualified to perform the job in which they want. Society as taught man to be objective 98%, indifferent 1%, and subjective 1% of the time. This is why men hold a majority of high-ranking positions across the board without anybody questioning why. We have to start batting a eye and getting behind our women, lobbying for them to hold Principle, superintendent, president, congress, judgeships, commissioner, CEO, CFO, COO etc. positions. How can we combat the shut out of women in high power positions? What steps would or could we take to get the ball rolling? We have to even the playing field because a lot of women are highly if not overly qualified for the high ranking positions that they want to take but know they wont get because of their gender and a lesser to equally qualified man.

Depression and Millennial

- Americans do not take mental health seriously enough. According to the NIMH, as many as 45% of mental health cases go untreated in this country, at a total potential cost of $147 billion per year. - What is controversial — or at least uncomfortable — is the idea that millennials suffer from more mental health issues than any previous generation. This challenges some of the common assertions that millennials are entitled, lazy and lack a work ethic or respect for The Dollar. - To begin with, let’s dispel with the idea that depression is “merely” “feeling sad.” Depression is a recognized and recursive disease, as misunderstood as it is debilitating.

Stereotypes are something that has dictated so much within society, especially within the black community. We are faced with the most stereotypes that they have come to define us before we even open our mouths to speak. And even if we did speak the first thing we say that pairs a said stereotype them we are what they believe us to be. We move through life trying not to fall victim to the various stereotypes and statistics that come with being black in America. No matter what part of life it is American society has made living while black in America stereotypical living.

Why do black women not like when black men date white women?

The beauty spectrum

- Men (How men are viewed in society) - Women (How women are viewed in society)

The beauty spectrum is one that exists worldwide and constantly attacks melanin beauty. This is why we have melanin people trying to bleach their skin to make their appearance fairer. We see it everyday without truly acknowledging what’s really going on. With toys and the so called “beauty” we see flaunted on TV, videos, modeling, and so much more society has really painted who is beautiful and who is not. Men are more of an implicit spectrum but women are so explicitly put on the beauty spectrum its crazy. Join the conversation as we dissect the beauty spectrum for both men and women.

Love

Doubting ones self when it comes to love and dating in our early 20s. What type of lover are you? Do you know how to give and receive love? Are you in a position to fall in love? Do we take being in a relationship to seriously in our 20s? And what happens when you meet someone that you like but you’re not on the same page they may want more from you than you’re willing to give? You can only love someone to the complicity that you love yourself so are you giving the same Energy to working on the inside as you’re giving to being in a partnership for the outside world? Why do you think we focus little to no energy and loving ourselves? Most importantly what does life look like down the road when you have not practiced a loving yourself and setting boundaries and limitations for the people that you allowed to be a part of your life (partner). Because we all know those people that we say will never grow up to be.

Childish Gambino has a non-black other have and questions have been swirling around him being pro black and having a non-black GF/Wife. The question is can you be pro black with a non-black partner. Most people have said no you cannot and others have said yes you can. Why is it that here in America we cant be one thing if we don’t full between a certain set of guidelines set by woke America. I’ve also seen comments on Gambino being labeled as “weird” and black women not liking him because of his weirdness. In addition to the only reason why they care now is because he got money! Why can’t he just be attracted to whom he is attracted to?

Lets talk weird mannerisms and their acceptance.

The Pro-Black Community

What does it mean to be Pro-Black? → Well I tend to agree with the urban dictionaries definition, which is; is a lifestyle that encourages the economic growth and development of the black people as a whole with a purpose of increasing the wealth and population of black people around the world. Whether it be spending money with black owned business in your communities or online. Promoting love for black people and encouraging black youth is its soul purpose to keep uplifting black people in America.

What is your definition of being pro black? Are there any guidelines of being pro-black?

2 Chainz Proposes after 20 years of being with his GF

2 Chainz proposed to his 20 year girlfriend and I seen a post on FB from a female that basically said she wont be in a GF for 20 years and not be married. By year 5 or so she needs to be at least engaged.

This goes into doubts and trusting your path. If you don’t trust the process then nothing will ever happen for you the way you want it to happen. It goes back to living your truth no matter what. Whether living your pro-black lifestyle or in a 20 year non-engagement relationship you have to have no doubts, trust your path and live your truth unapologetically. As long as you approach live unapologetically then who you choose to date and the things you do wont matter because you are constantly living your truths.

Kanye's idea of free thought is the idea that our people wont let slavery mentally control us anymore. These days people continue to allow slavery control them mentally and lack ability to freely think. This doesn't mean we let people talk crazy but we change the way we process their rhetoric. Kanye's voice reaches to far and wide for us let allow the other side to take him. The Black delegation will not trade or release him!

Why do people idolize celebrities to the point of seeing no fault in the regular person?

→ People tend to engage in celebrity debates while defending their actions as if they know them personally. Completely negating any negative actions they may have committed. Instead of approaching it from a neutral standpoint they tend to side with their favorite celeb/professional team.

Instead of being unified against the same struggles each of them faces they tend to go against each other.

I say yes because once we dilute the initial meaning of black lives matter then we begin to do their job for them. Black lives matter isn’t a organization that looks to protect criminals so to say all black lives don’t matter directly goes against what black lives matter was created for. Maybe stating that black men or women who commit heinous acts don’t receive a pass will suffice but black lives matter at the end of the day.

We ended with an uncomfortable conversation about rape culture stemming from the Bill Cosby Conviction. Listen closely as KingDev and Chyna get into a deep discussion about the energy being the same when dealing with sexual assault as a whole. It should not vary from person to person as if some sexual predators didn't do enough to be considered a sexual predators and be treated as such.

Let us know what you think; Should all sexual assault allegations/cases be treated with the same energy regardless of how far the offender went? Or are some offenses ok to let go if the said offender loses a piece of his or her livelihood? why or why not?

 Starbucks, LA Fitness and other corporate and small businesses or organizations within the United States that hire or have knowledge of racist employees. Thoughts on what has been going on? Three things in particular I want to cover; the first being the way in which Starbucks handled the situation. The second being the story before the recording started. The third being the way in which black men interact with police officers when approached, the unspoken rules of engagement.

→Starbucks handled racial discrimination the best way they possible in these trump times. Fire the racist bigot and to add onto the push toward change close down all stores in the US for mandatory racial bias training for all employees. If black activist have a problem with the decisions Starbucks made in tackling this problem then they might be apart of the problem. LA Fitness what y’all going to do homies?

→ Recordings always give a side of the story that can possibly misleading to the public. What was initially said, how were the interactions with the police officers, were people being rebellious as opposed to corporative. This goes back to the spectrum of people and the unspoken rules of how the black man should deal with the police. 1.) Always comply within your rights 2.) Never give the cop reason 3.) Topic – The Progressive Oppressive Mindset

~The Progressive Oppressive Mindset is the type of mindset who looks to break barriers (race, gender, inequality, etc.) and influence change but does by trying to band together and force the hands of the oppressor through the use of boycotts. ~The more knowledgeable we become in this world the more we look for equality. This means what ever our white brothers and sisters get we have to either meet that or surpass that. And if we are lowballed we are quick to pull the race card, gender card, and any other card that can start a ongoing conversation. ~ This happens across the board but more specifically I’m speaking exclusively on the African community. The most current happening of this is the whole Monique Vs. Netflix situation. ~When Monique didn’t get what she wanted money wise she decided to call out Netflix claiming gender and race bias as well as calling for a boycott. ~Gender/race bias are present today but every time we don’t get exactly what we want we cant just pull those political cards thinking that these white corporations are going to jump. The only thing that makes them move is money and competition. ~ Looking to change what they are doing that you see is wrong is the progressive side working for the better of all that comes behind you BUT doing that by calling for boycotting in hopes that white corporate America will even budge is the oppressive side at work thus you have the progressive oppressive mindset.

~Does a mother have right to ask her child’s father how he knows his child’s social? ~I think asking a father how he knows something about his child is blatant disrespect ~I can see if he is a dead beat and wants nothing to do with his child but if he isn’t and you still feel the need to ask that, I think it is a clear slap in the face. ~People are shady and use their child’s social for bills and cable and such but whose to say the mom wont do the same thing ~The only time I think that question should be asked is if a parent is asking for the social security number out of the blue so now you need to question as to why he/she is asking for it, what they need it for, and so on. ~But to just ask how you got your child’s social is disrespectful to a responsible father doing what he needs to do in order to take care of his child. ~Motherly duty is to protect and provide and so is the fathers and I think it is common parental knowledge to have access to your child’s important information, period.

BUT the environment can affect the authenticity of your blackness (other minority groups). ~Meaning being in a predominately white environment can, but not always, deny minorities (especially Africans) authentic experiences of their people and their history. By sugarcoating, whitewashing, and lack of African representation. ~It does make sense to give your child an education as opposed to an edumacation in terms of accessibility. Suburban and private schools have the means and capital to maximize learning opportunity but lacks the component that aids in building your authentic self.

Topic #1 – Monique Vs Netflix This week Monique called for a boycott of Netflix because they offered her $500,000 to do her own comedy special. She stated that she was referred to as one of the legends in comedy but still was low balled when it came to the offer put on the table. The boycott that she called for stems from her belief that Netflix partook in color and gender bias during negotiations. Tons of people weighed in and are still weighing in on this story and its something to be talked about. First of all we must understand what boycotting is from a historical standpoint. Once we TRULY understand this we will stop calling for them all together. Secondly the act of being humble is truly a skill not a natural walk of life. Rochester is a very some timey community when it comes to supporting local talent of any kind. Whether its radio, hair styling, sports, Dj, Artist, Rapper, Singer, Dancer, etc., Rochester will literally pick and choose who they want to support and who they don’t want to support. Overstanding this its hard to conquer this small pond because of how wishy washy the support is here, even up to our local radio station the good ol reliable WDKX unless money is involved then they are all for your .5 spins on the daily mix. Knowing this anybody trying to shine and make some noise in Rochester have to move a certain way to gain some traction. Reason being speaks to the natural I have to make it first mentality local talent have as opposed to having the lets conquer together mentality.

Topic #3 – Hip-Hop Today

Hip-hop today, in this present time, is what I would say is a hit or miss industry. What this means is you are either making hits, club bangers or you missin out on all the money, fame and fortune. We have so many different types of rappers now it’s hard to vibe out to the vibrations of a diverse selection of music because they all sound the same. It’s not about lyrics and vibes anymore its all about how dope your production is. If you have a dope beat and catchy hook you are destined to make millions, if it generate the right attention. With this culture in hip-hop today how can the MCs reinvent themselves and/or take back over the game as a whole. Is that even possible anymore?

Topic #1 – The Woes of Intellect Everybody has teachers, mentors, and/or role models in which they learn from. Nobody is original in the messages they choose to relay to others because they have to learn from someone else or even a book. Whether past or present we get our ideas from the universe and happening within the universe. The problem lies when intellectual individuals close themselves to any outside information or compromise. They believe they are untouchable and do not need to go outside their beliefs because they have found the answer.

Topic #2 – Intro to the spectrum The spectrum takes the woes of intellect and drops people on either side of it. Example: The spectrum for white people would be Overly Afrocentric-------------Woke-----------Savior. For black people Chameleon--------------Woke----------------Angry Savior. Savior means you are trying to save all your people with no regard to anybody outside of your race. Woke is you are in overstanding or understanding of ALL realities/histories of the world. Overly Afrocentric is that white person who acts blacker than the black person on the corner slingin dope. Chameleons can blind into any community they want to identify with completely negating their blackness. Examples: Umar Johnson, Personalities from She’s Gotta Have it, Al Sharpton, The Urban League, Hillside, Boyce Watkins, MLK, Malcolm X, Huey Newton, Farrakhan, Elijah Muhammad, etc.

Topic #3- Holding the Patricians Accountable Messages are highly one sided, some are divisive, most highly educated, brainwashed and a lot white washed. We have to have to keep them in the middle of the spectrum by holding them accountable. On all spectrums the middle means you are Woke to ALL the realities of the world. Being Woke is being pro-black or simply supporting my pro-blackness. Being in the middle of the spectrum means holding patricians accountable at all times, being completely critical at all times of their practices. The middle means open-mindedness with a transparent vision. It means flexibility to favor either side while still being objective and accepting of new information from different sources different than your original.

Devon Horace is Rochester’s very own! Destined for greatness after graduating from SOTA in 2011, he moved to Brooklyn, NY to attend St. Joseph’s College. In 2015 he graduated from St. Joseph’s College Brooklyn, NY with a Masters in Psychology, with a focus in Human Behavior and Cognitive Psychology. Within a year after graduating and spontaneously to Portland, Oregon 2 weeks after graduation, he paid off $37,238.38 in student loan debt (including 10k in moving expenses), and one month after paying his debt off, he saved $10,000. Working for NIKE he travels opening stores and conducting brand activations. In his down time he spends his time reading financial and business literature, browsing YouTube, building his brand #WhatAnAccomplishment, guest stars on podcast and meets with black business owners and social media influencers. Dev now manages his own financial consulting firm, Horace Consulting, LLC to further extend his knowledge to whoever seeks it with intentions to help other young professionals through their financial journey becoming more financially literate and free.

Do you like sports? Are you a current or former athlete? Have you ever noticed the power of sports? Well if you haven’t and can’t relate take some time to listen to this edition of Introspective insight to grasp the full potential of sports. I introduced what I call the sports Big 3, which are education and growth, life lessons, and business. Through the process of chasing our own greatness we learn various lessons/skills through sports that we can apply to everyday life. Sports give athletes a sense of directions and are what I’ve deemed a positive distraction from negative distractions, in most cases. Lastly, sports its breeds the option and opportunity to create our own businesses in the future as we are transitioning away from the game. Take a listen as I take you through my thought processes and talk about why I believe we should take advantage of the powerful platform sports has within our communities across the world.
