This story, then, should be dated between around the mid 17-hundreds BUT is probably significantly older since we do not know how long this tribe, or this story, existed before Curtin recorded it.

And there should be many caveats in what I just said. Yana seems to be a language, while the peoples seem to be Ishi, or Yahi, but I'm not an expert - just a story sharer. If you have more information about this story, or about this tribe, I would love it if you could reach out and perhaps write something for our upcoming blog on this story - we need experts, and if that's you, well then, I hope you'll get in touch.
