Three years ago, I felt stuck. Not knowing what I was getting myself into, I decided to hike the Pacific Crest Trail. During three months, I completed 1,100 miles of trail in three states. Walking alone for hours on end gave me a lot of time to think, and it showed me what’s important to me. Personal growth, relationships, and health became my core values. This journey has gotten me to almost unbearable lows and incredible highs I couldn’t have imagined three years ago. It has also made me confident to share my stories, the mistakes I’ve made, and the lessons I’ve learned. I hope to bring more mindfulness, inspiration, and motivation to everyone around me by being authentically myself.

Fear is a strong motivator. If you don't believe me, just think about the last time you feared failure. The last time a deadline came closer and in the "last second," you got motivated to work on that project. In this episode I'll cover:

Fear as a Motivator

Fear breeds more Fear

How to shift your mind

I'm also talking about the coaching model I use to get to the truth. Take a few minutes, listen to it, and let me know what you think.

This episode is all about your thoughts and beliefs. They create your reality, and when you change your thinking, you change your reality. On my journey, I had to overcome many limiting beliefs. If you look at me now, you might think it's been easy. But I started to become aware of my thoughts way back in 2011. It wasn't until 2015, however, that I became consciously aware of what I was doing. It took me even longer until 2020 before I began teaching the tools I was able to learn.

In this episode, I dive deep into personal examples of the three main points:

your thoughts create your reality

awareness is the key

the double whammy (thinking negative about negative thoughts)

I only started coaching and teaching nine years into my journey. Managing your thoughts is an easy concept, but like with learning any new skill, it takes a lot of practice. Feel the encouragement and continue on your journey of unleashing the wild!

A little late after a fantastic weekend of journeying, ego dissolution, and making new friends, I was too tired to record and release a new episode. However, I do want to keep up with the promised one episode per week. So I decided this morning to improvise it.

Anxiousness shows up in my body as a tingling feeling, my heart rate rises, and I feel full of electricity. Those sensations are the same as I would feel when I'm excited about something. That's why I decided to use a tool called anxiety reappraisal in a situation last week. You find something you can feel excited about in the situation and keep on telling yourself that you're excited instead.

Self-talk is the voice inside my head, telling me what I can and can't do. Like Henry Ford said: "Whether you think you can, or you think you can't – you're right." I'm in control of that voice and have to train it to be positive, like a skill. Having positive self-talk has many health benefits:

★ Increased life span

★ Lower rates of depression

★ Lower levels of distress

★ Greater resistance to the common cold

★ Better psychological and physical well-being

★ Better cardiovascular health and reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease

★ Better coping skills during hardships and times of stress

The first step in training myself to become more positive is becoming aware of my thoughts and beliefs.

After reviewing my year in mid-December, I felt depressed, stuck, and demotivated. If you had asked me then, I didn't know what I had accomplished. Did I reach my goals? Tough question to answer since I didn't have goals written down in the first place. Yes, I knew I wanted to become more authentic, less scared, and grow personally and professionally. But without a vision and a plan, how would I know if I got there? So, I decided 2019 was my best year yet, and 2020 will be even better. Why?

Because

★ I defined my values

★ I outlined projects to further my values

★ I created measurable goals to track my projects

★ I identified possible challenges for my goals

★ And I put my vision for my future self in words

When I look back on 2020 in December, I know what I accomplished. During the year, I can review, adjust, and optimize. I wish all of you the best year yet!
